*NEW* Social Skills Program

The Learning Disabilities Association of Halton is excited to launch a Social Skills Pilot Program for children aged 7 – 11 years.

In this small group program (maximum 6 children), children will have the opportunity to interact with other children while working together on their social skills. The areas that will be covered include: Getting Acquainted, Attentive/Active Listening, Communication, Understanding Emotions, Problem Solving, Working Together/Making Friends, Stress Management, and will conclude by celebrating their success. Children will be lead by an experienced facilitator and volunteer who will create a sense of community while teaching these important social skills.

These skills will be taught through play-based activities, team building games, and role playing, and children will benefit from working together with other children that have similarities to them. The program is targeted towards children with learning disabilities and not other exceptionalities.
